An elite homeschool cohort for ages 12–14. For curious, kind, and daring learners.
What if your child could spend three afternoons each week alongside a small group of motivated peers, tackling meaningful challenges, developing leadership skills, and learning to think like an entrepreneur, innovator, and problem solver?
Think Tank is a rare opportunity built for homeschool learners entering the pivotal middle school years, an intentionally small tribe ready to take ownership of their learning, collaborate, and stretch beyond their comfort zones.
Start Your Think-Tank Audition

There are no lectures to sit through and no worksheets to complete for the sake of completion. Instead, learners embark on collaborative, real-world Quests that naturally weave together:
Critical Thinking & Creative Problem Solving
Mathematics in Action
STEM & Innovation
Language Arts & Persuasive Communication
Public Speaking & Presentation Skills
Meaningful Friendships & Memorable Experiences
Leadership & Team Collaboration
At Think Tank, learners don't simply learn about concepts, they use them. They create. Build. Research. Debate. Present. Lead.
Along the way, they develop the confidence, communication skills, and self-direction that will serve them long after middle school.
10% sibling discount for families with a learner enrolled in our full-time Acton Academy Topsail program.
Curious and eager to learn
Willing to take initiative
Ready to collaborate with others
Excited by challenge
Looking for a community of motivated peers
Think Tank is intentionally limited to just 10 learners, so every applicant completes a simple 3-step audition designed to ensure a strong fit for the cohort and its learner-driven culture.
Read the following from Courage to Grow by Laura Sandefer: Introduction (pg. 1–10), Chapter 1, A Day in the Life of Acton Academy (pg. 11–20), and Chapter 7, Middle School Monsters (pg. 89–109). Then reflect:
What idea from the reading surprised you most?
What does "learner-led" mean to you after reading these chapters?
Do you think young people are capable of directing more of their own learning? Why or why not?
Tell us about a project you've recently completed:
What was challenging?
Did you work with others? If so, how did you work together?
What did you learn about yourself?
What are you most proud of after completing it?
Why are you interested in Think Tank?
What do you hope to contribute to the tribe?
What do you hope to gain?
How do you think you learn best?
